This question has been asked before, but I didn’t find one similar to my own.
First off, I know I don’t have diabetes (my sister has it and I test my blood sugar daily).
Secondly, I just purchased a mask for my eyes to help me sleep (this was on Saturday) and since I have been using it, I have woken up with blurry vision- either in one eye or both eyes- that gradually dissipates as the day moves forward.
Before going to my doctor, I want to know if it’s plausible to say that it:
A) Is constricting my blood vessels and therefore giving me blurred vision; or
B) The moisture is retained in my eyes and causes blurred vision.
I hope you can enlighten me on the matter. Thanks
Your eye is just affected by the mask e.g when you put your finger on one eye for ten seconds and then open it your vision will be blurred for a bit. This could last longer for you because you have the mask on all night.
My aunt controlled her diabetes with insulin injections for many years, but then one day she smashed her thumb with a hammer, foolishly took aspirin for the pain, which thins the blood, got a hemmorhage in her eye, and lost the eye. Please have a long discussion with your doctor related to what you need to avoid. If you take extra good care of yourself and know what to avoid, you’ll save yourself a LOT of heartache.
Diabetes is the leading cause of preventable new onset blindness in working age adults. You can have diabetic eye disease and not know it as it is painless and often has no symptoms until very advanced stages. Deborah K. Schlossman, M.D., of the Beetham Eye Institute at Joslin Diabetes Center, explains why an annual eye exam and appropriate care can reduce the risk of blindness and increase your chances of preserving sight.
I occasionaly have a blurred vision symptom, no other symptoms, and no pattern. The occurance lasts a couple of minutes, then goes away, no headache or pressure. No head injuries. sometimes weeks apart.
No blood pressure issues, no fever, no other eye problems. No diabetes.
any ideas?
maybe go to a doctor and get your eyes checked…i honestly think that would help.
does any one know what is caused by this I talked to my doc she sent me to my eye dr which everything came out fine……
I’m 32 years old
one of the things that led to my diagnosis of diabetes was that my vision was blurry and i had headaches, when i was tested for diabetes my sugar was so high the doctor wouldn’t let me leave the hospital because they said i should have been dead.

They say one of the symptoms of diabetes is blurred vision and i was wondering is that like when you put on a pair of strong glasses, is it when you see two of everthing or is it something different?
During diabetes you can need to urinate frequently. This excess water which how the body is trying to flush glucose out of the body also changes the shape of your eye ball. The change is enough of change the focal point for your eyesight. You can gain some vision with simple reading glasses. Once you gain some control over your condition there is some recovery.
Unfortunately if you have not paid attention or gained some control over you condition, diabetes can weaken the blood vessels in your eye to the point they burst and eyesight is lost in that portion of your eye. Uncontrolled you can loose total vision.
Scary stuff, more the reason to gain control over our condition.
