does it hurt??? and what is the most painful part of having diabetes
does it hurt??? and what is the most painful part of having diabetes
Almost daily, I am dizzy and have blurred vision. It is during the morning hours that it is the worst. I don’t have the other symptoms (thirst and frequent urination) of diabetes, however. Recently, my blood pressure has been higher (160/110), during the morning hours, than usual. Though, it isn’t high every morning I feel dizzy and have blurred vision.
Hi
Diabetes and high blood pressure are definitely connected. Exercise and the elimination of high carbohydrate foods from the diet would be the first important step to take.
The combination of diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure, has been called The Metabolic Syndrome.

You might consider finding a doctor that will focus on lifestyle factors rather than drugs since diabetes 2 and high blood pressure are very much connected to obesity, diet and exercise.

I seem to have been rated down 4 times in an question that I answered yesterday in relation to diabetes where the blood glucose level was in the high 200′s. Maybe the levels are different for different countries. Is this the case? In Australia a normal blood suger is 4.5, not in the high 80′ to 90′s. Am I right or are other people making me out to be making up my information? The next answer to mine seems to on the same track as me.
Forget the ratings. They’re meaningless. Just point people to the BGL converter here: http://www.brist.plus.com/convert.htm
In the U.S. we use milligrams per deciliter. In the U.K. and Canada, they use millimoles per liter. They differ only by a factor of 18. Elsewhere, I have no idea.
U.S. norm fasting: 70 to 110 mg/dl
U.K. norm fasting: 3.9 to 6.1 mmol/l

Ignore those who are ignorant. I get that all the time.
My son is a diabetic, when his blood sugar levels are normal and not running high he urinates just as much as a non-diabetic, when his blood sugars are running high he can urinate as often as every 5, 10 or 15 minutes. High blood sugars cause diabetics to drink more hence the fact they need the toilet more. Hope this helps!
like i said I got my blood sugar levels checked and it came out negative for diabetes and hyperthyroidism. Whenever I get hungry, my vision starts to blur..once i eat a bit it gets better again. Any ideas as to why this maybe?
I get that too.My vision would be blurry, I would get all shaky & feel really unwell all of a sudden. My symptoms were due to low blood pressure.
I am 17 weeks pregnant with my second. My first I had Gestational Diabetes and with this one my glucose levels have already been on the higher end. Doc is pretty sure I will be Insulin dependant again at some point during this pregnancy. Yesterday and this morning, however, my blood sugar levels were all around the normal-low range (and I didn’t change anything about what I would normally eat for the day). My before lunch reading was even borderline too low. My question is if this has happened to anyone else with GD, or if this could possibly be an early sign of a miscarrage? I haven’t felt pregnant in a few weeks (mainly because my morning sickness has finally ended, hurrah!) Any stories, or insight would be much apreciated : ) Thank you in advanced : )
Glucose metabolism is a complex thing, especially during pregnancy. Blood sugar variation is a natural phenomenon, but it’s the range of these sugars that are the important thing. Current guidelines suggest pregnant women should keep fasting sugars less than 5.9mmol/L and sugars 1 hour after eating less than 7.8mmol/L. As long as you’re maintaining these levels, you’re lowering the risk to your baby and yourself throughout this pregnancy.
With regards to could this be a sign of early miscarriage, that’s highly unlikely given that increased stresses to your body would typically raise blood sugars. Also, it’s still early in your pregnancy, and you’re more than likely to notice your sugars rising the later on in your gestation.
I am 22 weeks pregnant I should be getting my diabetic check at my next visit if not then the one after that, but I am concerned that I may be a good candidate for it, its very..well I guess genetic, if I was 2 guess about 60-70 percent of the people on my side of the family have or well had (died from) diabetes, if I dont eat or drink something sugary every single day, I get extreme migraines like the intolerable cant get off the floor type of headaches, I am really scared that I have diabetes, I am not sure if thats a symptom or not but I am just wondering. Thanks a lot ![]()
my grandfather died from diabetes, but he had had it since in his teens, he died when he was I think 60 something, it traveled to his brain, he was kind of over weight though not sure if that matters. I am currently 125-ish pounds 5’7 and 24 years old, if that matters, I was skinny before I got pregnant if that matters either, I was 100 pounds.
oh and my doctor does know that diabetes runs in my family, he wrote it down and put a star next to it, thats why I think I may get tested at my next appt.
oh my next appt I will be 24 weeks, I am 22 weeks and 2 days as of right now, sorry for all the edits.
YOU PROBABLY ARE SUFFERING FROM GESTATIONAL DIABETES. Gestational diabetes is a temporary form (in most cases) of diabetes in which the body does not produce adequate amounts of insulin to deal with sugar during pregnancy. It may also be called glucose intolerance or carbohydrate intolerance. Signs and symptoms can include:
Sugar in urine (revealed in a test done in your doctor’s office)
Unusual thirst
Frequent urination
Fatigue
Nausea
Frequent infections of bladder, vagina and skin
Blurred vision
During your prenatal visit your doctor will give you a sweet liquid (sweet does not necessarily mean good!) to drink one hour before your blood is drawn. It may cause you to feel a bit nauseous. The results will indicate if you are producing enough insulin or not.
It is important that you watch for any continuing signs that you may still be diabetic after giving birth. These symptoms include:
Frequent urination
Persistent thirst
Increased sugar in blood or urine
Testing may be done a few months after the delivery to make sure your blood sugar levels have returned back to normal.

This question has been asked before, but I didn’t find one similar to my own.
First off, I know I don’t have diabetes (my sister has it and I test my blood sugar daily).
Secondly, I just purchased a mask for my eyes to help me sleep (this was on Saturday) and since I have been using it, I have woken up with blurry vision- either in one eye or both eyes- that gradually dissipates as the day moves forward.
Before going to my doctor, I want to know if it’s plausible to say that it:
A) Is constricting my blood vessels and therefore giving me blurred vision; or
B) The moisture is retained in my eyes and causes blurred vision.
I hope you can enlighten me on the matter. Thanks ![]()
Your eye is just affected by the mask e.g when you put your finger on one eye for ten seconds and then open it your vision will be blurred for a bit. This could last longer for you because you have the mask on all night.
I’ve been getting blurred vision intermitantly. It started a few months ago. I would get out of the shower and have blurred vision for a couple of hours, then I noticed if I did any activity like walk the dog my vision would go blurred for a while. It always starts with an activity then settles after a couple of hours of rest. I have been tested for Diabetes and all my blood tests came back clear. I have been to see the Dr’s at the eye clinic and they are arranging a brain MRI scan. Any ideas as to what could be causing this to happen? My eyes looked fine when they examined them. All the Dr said was ‘there is obviously something irritating the nerves in your eyes and body’.
I have also been getting pins and needles and numbness on and off in various places. But what could cause it to be so on and off ??
Thanks x
Haven’t got high blood pressure. All of the small things have been checked x
This could be anything, really. But make absolutely sure that you don’t give up until the doctors find out what it is. If they say they don’t know, tell them it’s their job to find out, no matter if they need to take another round of new blood tests.
It’s reassuring that they will do an MRI, but I think it’s unlikely that they will find anything.
If it starts with an activity, it would probably not be diabetes, since the blurred vision in diabetes is due to high blood sugar, while doing an activity lowers blood sugar.
It could also be migraine with aura only, but then it should go away quicker. If your eyes hurt, then it could be retinal migraine, but it really doesn’t sound like it (also it’s very rare).
I think that the most probable guess right now is that you have an autoimmune disease (maybe SLE, systemic lupus). Usually you would have more symptoms (like fatigue), but all diseases have to start somewhere (and may not get worse either).
To be on the safe side, your doctor should take at least these blood tests: ANA, anti-SM, dsDNA, CRP and Vasculitis.
The eye doctor should also have checked the pressure of your eyes.
i was 36.6
That is pretty high (659 to non-Europeans).
Mine was 325 (18.0).
