Type II is the most common type and is the one that 'sneaks' up on people. Lots of type II's don't realize they have had it for years until a complication arises. Type I is the one that more up front with revealing itself and the symptoms can be severe. I was thinking I had the flu, it was 2 weeks before Thanksgiving, flu season. But after rapidly losing weight, constant thirst and urination, and extreme fatigue etc., I was hospitalized with the Type I diagnosis and a day or less away from being in a diabetic coma. That was a scary reality! There are vast differences between type I and II, the onset of them, and the treatment of them. Your best bet is to speak with your doctor of your concerns if any. And if it a friend or loved one you are concerned about, the American Diabetes Association website is a wealth of information.
