what are some signs and symptoms that you might have diabetes?

Nov 23, 2009 | Signs Symptoms of Diabetes

Go to the American Diabetes Association website. It has all the latest information, reports, advice, and links to help you understand the disease. My dad has diabetes and this site has helped to better understand what’s happening to him; it also has recipes to help with diets.

Excessive drinking and eating while losing weight. Normally weight loss occurs very quickly. If you think you are diabetic, do not let anyone dehydrate you such as enemas.

Few people that have not been diagnosed with diabetes know the symptoms. The general symptoms that warrant further testing is dry mouth and sudden urges to urninate. If either or both symptoms exist, see your Doctor for further tests.

I have diabetes Type II. I actually had the symptoms several years before I told my Doctor. The Dr. had a blood workup and a urinalysis completed. The tests revealed the presence of sugar in the urine as well as a high level of glucose in the blood.

There is lots of info out there, the ADA has tons. Type II is the most common type and is the one that ’sneaks’ up on people. Lots of type II’s don’t realize they have had it for years until a complication arises. Type I is the one that more up front with revealing itself and the symptoms can be severe. I was thinking I had the flu, it was 2 weeks before Thanksgiving, flu season. But after rapidly losing weight, constant thirst and urination, and extreme fatigue etc., I was hospitalized with the Type I diagnosis and a day or less away from being in a diabetic coma. That was a scary reality!
There are vast differences between type I and II, the onset of them, and the treatment of them. Your best bet is to speak with your doctor of your concerns if any. And if it a friend or loved one you are concerned about, the American Diabetes Association website is a wealth of information. And my personal advice is not be afraid to ask questions, being diagnosed with diabetes is scary (as is any diagnosis) but it is the one condition/disease that is manageable by you, it takes work and a love of yourself and your health but you can do it!
