Is dizziness a sign of diabetes?
Oct 15, 2009 | Signs of Gestational Diabetes
I am 30, overweight and had gestational diabetes (diabetes when your pregnant). I dont have health insurance and cant get my blood sugar tested. Is dizziness a sign of diabetes? I am dizy after I eat sweets and last night after I ate pasta.
Dizziness is not usually a sign of diabetes though it can be a side effect of anti glycemic tablets if they drop your sugar level too much.
Pregnancy can often cause women to feel faint because circulation problems caused by pregnancy can lead to the brain being starved of oxygen.
Eating pasta or any heavy meals can occupy your blood moving food around so it can lead to a lack of sufficient oxygen to the brain.

Being dizzy can be caused by a number of things. Dizziness is listed as a symptom of diabetes. I understand that you don’t have health insurance but I still URGE you to go see a doctor because diabetes is a serious condition.

it is only one sign. there are others. there are also other conditions that have that symptom. you need to see a doctor asap go to the public health dept if you cant afford to see a private doctor. if your condition gets real bad you could end up in the hospital emergency room instead. it might not be serious now but the sooner you get it checked out, the easier it is to treat.

Best to go to a pharmicist and get a diabetes test!
I get dizzy sometimes as my blood pressure is exceptionally low. I have been advised to eat every couple of hours.
Signs of diabetes are:
thirsty
tired
stress
urinating alot
itchiness in private areas
Try to achieve your 5 level of fruit and veg per day
Less sugary things
Less alcohol
Less caffeine (tea & cofee)
Drink more water
Eat more healthy!

It could be a sign that you’re having a low blood sugar. That’s all I know. I would go to a doctor if you can or idk. I’m sorry but good luck!

Dizziness is a symptom for so many things — it is hard to say if it is related to diabetes without having other information. It could be related to being anemic (e.g. after a heavy period) or any medication you may be taking. That being said, since you have other factors that may contribute to developing diabetes (gestational diabetes, being overweight, etc) it would behoove you to play it safe and find out if it is something more serious.
There should be cost-effective ways to find out if you have diabetes in your local area. Another way is to purchase the urine dipsticks from your local pharmacy that tests for glucose (sugar) in the urine. That’s not the absolute indicator of diabetes, but it might give you information.
