gestational diabetes problem?

Oct 09, 2009 | Signs of Gestational Diabetes

Tell me if you guys experienced the same thing…
I did the 1 hour gestational diabetes test today
About half way through drinking it, I got really hot. I was almost sweating trying to finish it. I stayed really hot the whole hour of waiting
Not to mention I felt really nauseated, I had to really control myself not to throw up
And I felt pretty light-headed
Is all that normal or maybe a sign of something?

Its normal because a lot of people aren’t used to getting so many sugar levels at once. I took the test a month ago and I felt sick for a few hours later. My doctor said its a totally normal reaction to the test. It is not an indication of the presence of gestational diabetes. If it makes you feel any better my test came out negative. Good luck!

I am now 31 weeks pregnant with my 4th child, boy #2 with both of my boys i had the gestational diabetes problem. And during the tests for my first and now this one, the 1 hour one bothered me some but the 3 hour one made me feel light headed and nauseous. with my 2 girls I did ok with the 1 hour. But yes when I was pregnant with boys I had the sugar problem. So good luck. Its not hard to overcome.

I did that too; I don’t remember feeling hot-I could have- all I remember is be really, really nauseated. Do you know what your readings were. I have four kids-for the first two when I had this test I just got really nauseated and the test came out fine, but for the last two i had all kind of symptoms; I felt like crap and ended up on insulin.

When I had my son 5 years ago I had to fast before taking the test and I reacted the same way. I did end up having gd but it wasn’t very bad. it was controlled very easily by diet. I’m not sure if I felt so bad when I took the test because I had fasted all morning or because I had gd. I’m pregnant with my third now and I haven’t had it with my last 2 pregnancies. I hope all works out and you don’t have diabetes!! Good luck.
