My dad lately has been having excessive thirst and urination could this be from his medcine?
Oct 12, 2009 | Diabetes Excessive Thirst
He is out of certain medicine for his diabetes. He was said to have pre diabetes. Ever since he couldn’t get more of his medcine his mouth has been dry and can never seem to get enough water and he has to pee every 5 minutes.
He needs to see his doctor TODAY

He really needs to get those medications. Not taking diabetes medications could be fatal. If he can not afford the medications there are programs that can help. The doctor’s office will probably give him samples for now, but if he doesn’t have prescription coverage, he should contact the manufacturer of the medication to see about getting it for a discounted rate.

sounds like his sugars are running too high, if his urine smells like rotten eggs or matches, he could be in Diabetic Keto Acidosis (you start producing acetone[nail polish remover]), the constant thirst and urination are because the kidneys are trying to flush out toxins. Its doctor time. If he can’t afford his medicine, try to get him on a Patient Assistance Program, most drug companies offer them, you can even register online with most of them

It sounds like to me that he needs to go and see his doctor so he can be put back on the medication that helps with these symptoms, because diabetes is nothing to play around with.

I was like that for some time alway’s peeing and very thirsty. they found out I had Diabetes Insipidus where your thirsty all the time. They had me start out with a neuroligist to check to make sure that the Pitutary wasn’t lacking something. they found out I wasn’t getting enough hormones in certain areas so they had to put me on hormone replacements and you inject yourself everyday. Go on the internet and read about Diabetes Insipidus. Webmd has a good site and information about this.

Not from the medication, but the symptoms you described are probably from high blood surgar. He needs to try to be on his diabetic medications if that’s what his doctor wants.
