I am almost 17 weeks and I am worried about gestational diabetes. I was showing signs of diabetes before I got pregnant and it runs on both sides of my family. Buy my mother and father don’t have it just my grandparents and my aunt. Every morning when I get up I am sooo dizzy and as soon as I eat I am fine. But then some days I stay dizzy all day. I’ve been keeping check on my blood pressure so I know it’s not that. And during the night I get so thirsty I have hardly no saliva left in my mouth. But I know I’m not dehydrated because I have been keeping track of that also. I have my check-up next week and is it possible to ask for a early gestational diabetes test?
Call your doc before the appt and let them know that you have concerns about gestational diabetes and they may suggest that you have the test during your next visit. I had to go in early, drink some orange soda-like drink, hang out for a bit, see doc and then give blood.
can’t hurt to call if you are concerned.
Juvenile diabetes, or Type 1 diabetes, usually begins during childhood or adolescence, but it is a disease that must be treated for a lifetime as there is no cure. Juvenile diabetes is a very severe form of insulin-dependent diabetes that should be recogn
how long do you have to fast for the 3 hour gestational diabetes test ? Is 6 hours long enough I had it with my last pregnancy and show all signs of it . Extreme thirst and hunger I’m always hungrey so I’m wondering when the last time I should eat something ?
THANKS
Im confused! I was never told to fast? Should I? I was just told to drink the drink and do it according to the paper they gave me which only speaks of times. I will be going on the 1st to do the test and My Dr already gave me the drink so I’ll be ready. Whats all this about fasting????

Whenever I’m at work usually sometimes other places i’ll feel dizzy and i’ll get something with alot of sugar to drink or i’ll eat something with alot of bread. Afterwards I feel almost 100 percent better. Could it be me getting gestational diabetes? I’m 22 weeks pregnant. So 5 and a half mths.
My next doc appt is on Nov. 15th. The midwife said something about having it done next appt and then she said something about it might still be to early so I don’t know if they wanna do it for my Nov appt or my Dec appt. If they do it in Dec then they’ll be doing it when i’m 7 mths. Is that about right?
They will test you around 28 weeks for GD. Do not worry, everytime you go to your OB you pee in a cup, right? They are checking (among other things) your sugar level. If they notice anything out of the ordinary they will investigate further. Good Luck!

I’ll be 23 weeks on Monday and I have an appointment with my OB then. I thought she said I’d have to do the glucose test at that time, but she may have meant later. I wondered when you’re typically tested for gestational diabetes in pregnancy?
Also, I’ve noticed I am so thirsty lately. I know this can be a sign of diabetes. But I wondered if dry mouth/thirst is also just a symptom that some pregnant women deal with (who DON’T have diabetes)?
Thanks!
This is usually done between the 24th and 28th weeks of pregnancy.

I’m extremely tired all the time, when I drink something sweet i get a head ache and my vision gets blurry. Most of all extremely tired 24/7. I do have two other children 4 and 19 months but I have never felt this crappy during pregnancy. My dad has diabetes and so did my grandmother. What are the chances? I take glucos test tomorrow morning.
from what i’ve read there are virtually no symptoms of GD, and i read quite a bit as i had it with my first, but with a family history that would increase your chances… good luck at your test tomorrow, bring a book or magazine
