My boyfriend just had a doc’s appt today for possible ulcer. He also told her that he urinates about every hour (full bladder not just a trickle). She didn’t even examine him and told him she’s 90% sure its diabetes. I’ve never heard of that being one of the signs but she’s sending him for the testing.
Anyone heard of this?
Yes, frequent potty breaks can signal diabetes. There are normally other symptoms as well such as fatigue, unquenchable thirst and ravenous hunger. Only the proper diagnostic tests can tell for certain and I would insist on these if the doctor refuses to run them or else seek out another opinion.
Symptoms:
* Frequent urination
* Excessive thirst
* Unexplained weight loss
* Extreme hunger
* Sudden vision changes
* Tingling or numbness in hands or feet
* Feeling very tired much of the time
* Very dry skin
* Sores that are slow to heal
* More infections than usual.
Is it every 5 minutes?
Every 15 minutes?
Every 30 minutes?
Every 2 hours?
Every 4 hours?
If someone could help me out, I’d appreciate it. Thanks!
Just before my husband was diagnosed with type I he was going about 1-2 times an hour during some parts of the day. It usually followed sugary drinks. He was experiencing the extreme thirst and was drinking Gatorade which was then causing him to use the restroom very often, he said it was often painful to go. If you are going much more often than usual and experiencing any other symptoms you should go and get check right away.
Frequent urination is the only symptom my cousin is exhibiting, but it was enough for her to become worried, so I’d like any feedback from anyone in the know.
I doubt it, she should probably go to the doc, frequent urination is also a sign of a UTI.
People say one of the symptoms to diabetes is having to go to the bathroom frequently. I was just wondering how much is frequently? I think most people go about 3-4 times a day. How would you know?
Signs & symptoms of Diabetes Mellitus:-
* weight loss and fatigue (classic symptoms in older patients)
* Loss of appetite.
* Incontinence.
* Decreased vision.
* Confusion or even delirium.
* Constipation or abdominal bloating (from gastric hypotonicity)
* Retinopathy or cataract formation.
* Skin changes, especially on the legs and feet, due to impaired peripheral circulation; possibly a chronic condition , such as cellulitis or a nonhealing wound; poor skin turgor and dry mucus membranes due to dehydration.
* decreased peripheral pulses, cool skin, decreased reflexes, and possibly peripheral pain and numbness.
The following blood glucose tests are used to diagnose diabetes:
* Fasting blood glucose level — diabetes is diagnosed if higher than 126 mg/dL on two occasions. Levels between 100 and 126 mg/dL are referred to as impaired fasting glucose or pre-diabetes. These levels are considered to be risk factors for type 2 diabetes and its complications.
* Oral glucose tolerance test — diabetes is diagnosed if glucose level is higher than 200 mg/dL after 2 hours. (This test is used more for type 2 diabetes.)
* Random (non-fasting) blood glucose level — diabetes is suspected if higher than 200 mg/dL and accompanied by the classic diabetes symptoms of increased thirst, urination, and fatigue. (This test must be confirmed with a fasting blood glucose test.)
To convert blood glucose reading:- Divide the mg/dL by 18 to get mmol/L. Multiply the mmol/L by 18 to get mg/dL.
I’m doing a research project on Type 1 Diabetes (Juvenile Diabetes) and I need to know symptoms. One thing I need to write is how often "frequent urinaton" is. Like, once an hour, twice an hour, once every two hours, ect. Help, please! This is worth 75% of my overall Science grade.
I, myself, have type 1 diabetes, so I guess my answer comes more from a personal experience. Umm, frequent urination would be like around every two hours. Sometimes I would just go to the bathroom because I feel I need to go, but when I get to the toilet, I can’t urinate or anything. Its just an urge sometimes. Other symptoms include thirst, hunger, severe weight loss, and blurred vision. I hope this helps(:
My mother goes to the bathrooom every hour. What can help her. By the way, I’m not 100% sure she has diabetes.
The first thing is to get her urine checked for a UTI. Second if you suspect diabetes then get her to a doc and get this checked out. She needs to find the cause of her frequent urination and get it treated.
I know that a sign of diabetes is frequent urination. But how many times a day would be considered "frequent" to worry about?
Go to your doctor. You cant afford to muck around with things like this. It could be a sign of kidney disease which is a complication of diabetes.
Believe me I know I am in this situation and it needs to be dealt with now!!
I’ve been peeing allot lately and the fact that i cud have diabetes scares me allot
so i need to know other illnesses that could be linked to frequent urination
i’m only a 14 yr old girl
and diabetes doesn’t run in my family
so it is rele important that i get as many answers as possible
because im scared
i do eat alot of sugar
First off, there’s no need to panic. ^^ Just breathe- You’ll be alright.
It may be as simple as a urinary tract infection. You may have elevated levels of bacteria in your bladder and the body would therefore need to expel it through urination. Overactive bladder syndrome is another possibility. On a more serious note, you could have Interstitial cystitis, which has to do with the wall or lining of the bladder. It could also be a mild kidney infection.
A question to ask yourself- Have you started any new medications as of late? Medicine, like diuretics for example could lead to the frequent need to pee.
My suggestion is for you to call and make an appointment with your family doctor. If they can’t help, make an appointment with a specialist, like a Urologist.
But chances are, you have a simple bladder infection.
Until your appointment, you should try eating a lot of cranberries/drinking cranberry juice/taking cranberry capsules- they’ve been known to help with bladder problems.
When Deborah was in her early 50s, she began to experience frequent urination. However, she didn’t know it was a sign that she had developed diabetes too. Eventually her blood sugar was so high, she landed in the hospitals intensive care unit in a diabetic coma.
