Frequent urination and extreme thirst, but it’s not diabetes 3

Oct 24, 2009 | Frequent Urination Sign Diabetes

I’m still 16, I have frequent urination just like UTI but with 24 hours extreme thirst, it’s like diabetes but it’s not, no matter how much i drink i still feel thirsty, I can’t sleep because the thirst and my throat and mouth really dry and smelly,I checked my urine at hospital 2 times but they said there’s nothing wrong with my urine, I thought it is UTI but i dont know if UTI make ppl thirst, I live in agony and craving for water for months!,I take anti-biotics and probiotics and nothing happen, help? what should I do? What is this disease, i tried google but it’s hopeless, i’ve never met urologist before and i wish i can avoid from urologist to check my penis and balls lol

Not meaning to scare you or anything, but it sounds like Type 2 Diabetes. Trust me, look it up. Your not seeing any results with the anti-biotics because Type 2 Diabetes is not bacterial. Nothing will show up in your urine either.

If it is Type 2 Diabetes, it is fairly easy to handle. I wouldn’t worry too much. But go get it checked out in case you do have it!

Thanks and I hope this helps!

Frequent urination? 6

No frequent urination at all for me.Is it necessary to feel the symptom of frequent urination in any type of diabetes?

Due to the increase in glucose in the blood making the blood like strawberry jam, the body makes you want to drink to help the kidneys filter the sugary blood resulting in an increase in thirst which in turn once the water and blood has filtered through kidneys results in increased frequency of urination. It is the most common and identifying clinical signs of diabetes.
I am not 100% sure but I suspect that the increase in urination and drinking in type2 diabetes may not be as noticeable as in type1 as type 2 is slow at coming on and most people can live with it for years without knowing they have it, however with Type1 diabetes it is unmistakable and often a more sudden illness.

No other symptoms. Mouth not dry. Going every 2 hours. Night and Day. Person is a 46 year old female.

After certain age the muscles lose elasticity and tend to relax; we are able to hold our urine with muscles. When those muscles relax it causes frequent urination.
If the person drinks a lot of "soda" or coffee, that also enables the frequency of the urination since "soda" and coffee have diuretic capacities.

Question about Prednisone – Diabetes – High Blood Sugar – Frequent Urination? 4

Oct 09, 2009 | Frequent Urination Sign Diabetes

I’m a 16 year old male. I have a brother who has type 1 diabetes. I was put on 60 mg of Prednisone for poison ivy on my face. I was put on that 5 days ago, and am now done with my treatment. At about day 3 of my treatment, I noticed more frequent urination. I tested my bloodsugar with my brother’s tester, and I had a reading of above 500. Later that night I was 495. In the morning following I was 219. Later that day after continuing my normal habits, I was 184.

I’m concerned because I don’t know if the sugar readings are because of my eating habits [Lots and lots of soda, all the time. And I had ice cream and dinner before I tested and was 500.]

I’ve been testing for ketones and have come up negative. I’m just wondering if I’m over reacting by thinking I may be diabetic myself and it is just a reaction to the Prednisone. Should I wait for a while to see if the frequent urination, chest pain, and high blood sugar [all known side effects of the drug] are nothing more than side effects
Something I really should mention; I myself am not a diabetic. I have tested my blood sugar years ago and was in normal range all the time.

And about 500 blood sugar having me in the emergency room [It was RIGHT after I had a bowl of ice cream, two pepsis, a cheese buger, and chips] And also, just a side story, my younger brother, when first diagnosed with diabetes, had a blood glucose level of 1,700. Yeah, rediculous, right? He was in THIRD GRADE. haha.

You should not bother testing yourself when you have just had a heavy meal. Test in the morning, before eating anything. That is the number that will tell you if you have a problem with sugar. It is wise to check this way regularly (3-4 times a year) if the disease is in your family, but the readings taken right after a meal are meaningless, and checking several times a day is really excessive.

You should consider improving your diet for the sake of your general health. And there is some strong evidence (not proof) that eating a lot of sugar can hasten the onset of diabetes in people who are genetically susceptible.

Prenisone has very nasty side effects when used long term, but the short-term use you describe should not cause any major trouble.

Test before breakfast. If the reading is over 124, test again before breakfast the next day. If it’s still over 124, go to a doctor. Do not test at any other time of day! If your before-breakfast reading is normal, don’t test again for 3 months.

Good luck!

With diabetes symptoms, how frequent is frequent urination? 5

I remember with me…if I wasn’t drinking something (sooo thirsty), or eating something (sooo hungery), I was peeing. At that point the body has given up on food even though I was feeding it because there wasn’t any insulin to break down the food. SO the body decided to eat the fat and then the muscle I had…the reason for extreme thirst was all the junk in the blood from the food that the body couldn’t process had to get out by way of the bladder. Thus, back to urination…very frequent, and the amounts were large each time. NOTE: in my case the urine did have a somewhat sweet smell (kinda gross, but to date, if my blood sugar is high it will be that way). Hope this helps, if in doubt SEEK A DOCTOR. A quick test and they can tell you for sure; it might be something else….
