My free diabetes screening revealed 94 mg/dl for fasting blood glucose level. Is that bad?
Sep 27, 2009 | Blood Glucose Diabetes
I’m a 23 yr old male with some weight issues. I had the diabetes check yesterday morning, however, I’m never hungry in the mornings, and my blood sugar usually drops in the afternoons, evenings, and nights.
However, I’ve been dealing with quite the opposite for the past several years- low blood sugar known as hypoglycemia. I read numerous studies and articles on it and knew that’s what I had.
No, that’s great. Fasting blood glucose should be between 70 and 100mg/dl. Your result is great.
That indicates that you are not at risk for hyperglycemia, or diabetes.
Hypoglycemia is defined as a glucose (or blood sugar) reading below 70mg/dl. This is likely what you would see on a meter if you were to test yourself when you feel lightheaded, dizzy, etc. in the afternoon, evening, and nights.
Good luck in managing your hypoglycemia.

No, anywhere between 80-120 is normal. Some people find they can have large drops or fluctuations if they do not eat regularly. I myself suffer from hyproglycemia but usually don’t have problems if I eat regularly and right. You MUST start eating breakfast, period. Whether you are hungry or not your body still needs to be balanced and have energy to help you last the day. Eating breakfast also helps reduce cravings later in the day.

My answer is different so you might want to consult a doctor who has the parameters on glucose levels on fasting sugar. My test measures glucose a simple sugar that provides much of the body’s energy. Too much glucose in the blood sugar might indicate a sign of diabetes. My lab measures 65-99 as normal. So it indicates you are at the high end of the range of normal and having it rechecked regularly would be a good course besides consulting with a doctor……(also to the advice I lead an active life of exercise now, and watch my diet as to keep the blood sugar down as much as possible. I would recommend you do the same and save yourself the anguish of leaning closer to the diabetes parameter ranges as time moves forward. This advice is serious and my doctor is well known to follow statistics tightly and without bending. It’s your life do it better in the long run to lead a long life without problems)

160, 200 is high. You need to eat breakfast. I tell my mom that and my aunt that. It gets your metabolism going, and everything going. If you don’t eat……….you’re definitely going to have spikes in your blood sugar. I usually get shaky between breakfast and lunch. You should try 6 small meals a day.
